Club Funding
Purpose and
Overview of Club Funding GSC club funding is used to support
budgeted operational expenses of standing clubs at Caltech. The club
funding process occurs once per year, with proposals due to the GSC in the
fall.
Eligibility In order to obtain funding, clubs must be
open to all interested graduate students. Clubs requesting club funding
must be officially recognized by the GSC. Official recognition requires
that your club be listed on the Caltech webpage (click here for a listing
of Caltech clubs), and has a webpage. Clubs must also try to obtain funding from additional
sources. Further details and a list of alternate funding sources can be
found in our
proposal
guidelines (pdf) document.
Club funding is
awarded once per year, in the fall. In
order to receive funding, a club must submit a proposal and financial
statement according to our
proposal
guidelines (pdf).

In order to submit, email a copy of your proposal and any supporting
materials (preferably in .pdf form) to:
Scott Kelber gsctreasurer@its.
Deadline for submissions is
September 1 of the current year. Late or incomplete proposals may not be
reviewed for funding.
Quickfunding
Purpose and
Overview of Quickfunding If you have an idea for an on-campus
event open to all graduate students or the Caltech community, we can help
make it happen. Quickfunding is available for amounts up to $300. Anyone
can apply: individual students, groups of friends, sports teams, clubs,
etc.
Note: Quickfunding is not a substitute for club funding.
Clubs receiving funding from the GSC must justify requests for quick
funding by explaining why the proposed event was not on the budget they
submitted to the GSC in their club funding proposal. The GSC understands
that unforeseen opportunities to hold a special event may arise, and wants
to help in these cases. However, clubs have only a small chance of being
approved for more than two quick funding requests per year.
Eligibility GSC funding is subject to compliance with
guidelines,
including compliance with Caltech policies, the event being open to the
entire Caltech graduate student community, and widespread publicity on
campus. If the event does not comply with these rules, the organizers will
not be paid, regardless of whether the event was approved
for Quickfunding.

Event Funding
Money for public events can be applied for by e-mailing a
proposal to the GSC Budget Committee (gscbud@its) Your event proposal
should include a detailed description of the event, making it clear which
aspects are already accomplished and which need further planning or
action. Also, it should include a detailed budget for the proposed event
showing all projected expenses and all projected sources of income for
funding it (include your GSC request in this section). Event funding is
limited and requests may be delayed until the next club-funding cycle.
